Nice to meet you! I am Michelle.
I am a filmmaker from The Hague, The Netherlands, currently based in Berlin. In 2021, I graduated with honors from HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht), where my thesis film, Human Recipe, premiered at the Kaboom Animation Festival. Shortly after, I co-founded Kat van Huis, a FLINTA-led 2D animation collective based in Utrecht focused on creating projects that explore and celebrate FLINTA topics.
In 2023, I moved to Berlin to expand my expertise and explore live-action filmmaking. After earning my HE certificate in film production and working on various film sets, I realized that what truly drives me in filmmaking is the image. Colors, composition, and lighting—they define the emotional core of a film. To me, a film can only resonate fully when it looks as captivating as the story it tells.
Cinematography has since become my greatest passion. My background in 2D animation taught me that creativity knows no bounds, and I love working on concepts that push visual storytelling to its limits. Whether it’s crafting striking compositions, experimenting with color, or playing with light, shadow, and textures; I’m most excited when I get to bring bold, imaginative visuals to life.
If you think we’d make a great team, I’d love to hear from you—let’s create something unforgettable!
